CT Exam with Contrast

What do I get?

GE VCT low dose scanner: Your exam will take approximately 45 minutes to complete. This includes the time to complete paperwork and to get prepared for the exam. You are actually on the table 5 to 10 minutes. CT or Computerized Tomography with contrast means you will receive an injection of IV contrast in order to enhance your images. Also, in some cases you may drink oral contrast if we are looking at the abdomen. We will ask you to lie as still as possible so we can acquire clear images. Our technologists will be available to answer any questions you may have.

About CT Results:

After your exam is completed your images will be interpreted by one of our board certified radiologists. Please schedule a follow up appointment with your healthcare provider to review your CT results and other tests you may have had.

Exclusions/Prerequisites/Notes:

  • A written order from your healthcare provider is required for a CT Exam. If you do not have a healthcare provider, please consider booking an appointment with a healthcare provider through Sprig.

  • If you are pregnant or may be pregnant at the time of this exam please notify your healthcare provider prior to scheduling.

  • If you are taking oral medication for diabetes, please have a list of medications to provide to the technologist at the time of your imaging visit. Certain diabetes medications need to be discontinued for 48 hours after receiving I.V. contrast. You will then need to return to your healthcare provider’s office to have your blood drawn to test for kidney function (B.U.N. and creatinine) before resuming your medications. Your technologist will review your medication list to advise whether your medications do or do not interact with the contrast agent.

You will be asked to remain still during your MRI exam. An MRI with contrast means you will receive an IV injection of contrast that will enhance your images. The technologist will answer any questions you may have.

Ultrasound (non-OB)

What do I get?

Ultrasound scan: Your exam will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes. There will also be time needed to complete the check-in process and to get prepared for the exam. Your ultrasound exam will be performed by one of our Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. During your ultrasound scan, you will lie comfortably on an exam table. A gel will be applied to help ensure good contact with the ultrasound probe that the sonographer uses to acquire the images.

About Ultrasound Results:

After your exam is completed your images will be interpreted by one of our board-certified radiologists while you wait in the exam room. Occasionally the radiologist will need additional information and additional images may be obtained before you leave. Please schedule a follow up appointment with your healthcare provider to review your Ultrasound results and any other tests you may have had.

  • There may be preparation required for your ultrasound exam, depending upon the type of exam. For example, you may be asked to fast (no food or beverages) 6 to 8 hours prior to your exam. You may also be asked to drink plenty of water as some exams require a full bladder prior to the ultrasound exam.
